Okay let's speak about the violence.
Fútbol is a religion, each match is a crusade, and each player wants to make their family name a staple in the sport. It will always be 1095 on the pitch.
A world cup qualifier match between Colombia V. Peru is taking place in the photo. Colombia is a great South American Futbol franchise. And Peru isn't so much sometimes but a 0-1 upset win from Peru caused an eruption in the festivities. So on Jan. 28, 2022, Peru heavily killed Colombia's vibe.
You can see in the photo the force that Colombians place in their fists. Muscle definition to show the valor and strength they have for being a patriot to the country. The harder they squeeze, the more of their energy is shared on the field.
They go hard for what they love and they love hard.
Once the game appeared to be coming to horrific end for the Colombians, a handful began to lightly assault the Peruvians from the corner, kicking off a cross fire between fellow countrymen. Throw-in some profanity and threats, it makes you wonder — "What is the goal?" Tackle the Peruvians until they headed out the stadium and become volley fans instead? What is soccer?
When the whistle blew, the dust settled and tears evaporated on the sun soaked cheeks cliffing over every bystander's face. You were either really happy or infuriated. Everyone turned on sports radio to hear an explanation of why they lost, who could they blame, how can the economy recover after this?
What is the real value in victory? Is the value generated from self-accomplishment or is it siphoned off from the defeat of the person standing in front of you? Could you be prideful if there was no competition? No true endeavors are short of audience; we need to someone to record our history with. And that pride comes at the cost of our own brilliance. Sometimes you can be so blind to realize everyone stopped playing with you a long while ago.
At the end of the day, it's all war and war never changes. I'm 2-3 in my fantasy football league so far and I couldn't be any sadder.
